“House of Stories” Residency
For the past few months, the Theatre of the Women of the Camp have been investigating what a theatre space could look like in their Palestinian refugee camp, Borj el Barajneh, in southern Beirut, Lebanon. Working with Blaagaard theatre in Copenhagen Denmark, we have, for the last few months had several online capacity building workshops with professional Danish artists in dramaturgy and set, light and sound design; held explorative theatre workshops with local and international artists; conducted meetings with local architects and finally hosted a 10 day artistic residency in the camp with past collaborators in which we recreated a small theatre space which asked the question: how can a theatre space and theatre technologies support diversity of stories/ narratives and another imagined alternative? The residency ended with a public sharing (see gallery below).
